Lacazette and Bacca?
Apologies if already done and all water under the bridge now, but interesting to hear Jack Sullivan mention on Radio Essex that Lacazette and Bacca did not come due to their unrealistic wage demands as fees were agreed with both their clubs.

If so Sullivan seniors prior remarks that we offered Tevez 150,000 per week would explain the above.

,

yeah I should have been clearer, they do pay tax, but always state wages after tax or at least football does

Re: Lacazette and Bacca?

Zaza ( ungrade on Valencia ) - Agree

Fegouli ( upgrade on Moses ) - Nothing to suggest this is the case

Nordviet ( think will come good and better than Song ) Disagree, looks slow and lumbersome

Tore ( good squad player to cover Fegouli and Antonio ) - Nothing to suggest this is the case. Looked appauling so far.

Fletcher ( good young prospect and upgrade on Elliot Lee ) Agree

Calleri ( upgrade on Emineke as back up striker ) Nothing to suggest this is the case. Looked very average so far, and not in the least bit clinical.

Arbeloa ( will help Byram and upgrade on Jenkinson ) Agreed

Arthur ( quality competition for Cresswell ) Agreed

So we have upgraded on 4 of our squad players, and potentially downgraded on another 4, which makes us largely net nothing.

Re: Lacazette and Bacca?
Eggy in Italy income tax rate for anything above E75K p a is levied at 43%.

Re: Lacazette and Bacca?
Thanks Eggy forgot that. I know Sullivan is like a big kid in a sweet shop, but I still think it would be better for all if Sullivan kept schtum.

Re: Lacazette and Bacca?
Fee never agreed for Lacazette, Lyon have also stated this. I do wonder if the player wanted to come.

Why keep bidding for a player if he would never come, must have had some indication from the agent to keep bidding.

Re: Lacazette and Bacca?
Baccas 60k in Italy is the same as 120k here as they don't pay 50% tax

I dare say he may have wanted a rise on that too

Re: Lacazette and Bacca?
Just looked it up, reports quoted we offered or he wanted, which ever way you interpret it 120,000 to Bacca doubling his wages from 60,000. Lacazette is listed at 4.2m euros wages at Lyon, so I assume a similar package.

Player wise we are better off. Attitude and fitness I am yet to be convinced.

Re: Lacazette and Bacca?
it could've been north of 200k. Really, can't remember the figures quoted that we offered in reports (assuming accurate), but definitely nothing much over 100k, from memory?

Elliot, we actually finished 7th, but I totally agree with your player comparisons, we are far better off this season & have decent cover for every position!

Plus the full signing of Lanzini and youngsters like Martinez and Quina I would say it's been a good transfer window and continues our growth as a club, a repeat of 8th last season would be realistic and will have more money to play with every year now that we are in the new ground

Re: Lacazette and Bacca?
There's a lot of difference between offering a player 150k a week for two years on a freebie and someone wanting 150k a week for five years and costing a huge transfer fee too. You also do not know exactly what Bacca and Lacazette wanted as it wasn't mentioned, it could've been north of 200k for all you know.

Eggbert Nobacon 1:29 Fri Sep 2

did he mention how much they wanted then?

Jimmy

I reckon it was more about the lack of Champion's League than wages.

J.Riddle 1:27 Fri Sep 2
Re: Lacazette and Bacca?
Jon, I agree with all that, just can't help thinking we could have had Lacazette if Sullivan had kept quiet about offering players 150k per week as Lacazette would have thought he is worth similar?

I just wish Sullivan (Gold doesn't say much tbf) would conduct his business in private.

Re: Lacazette and Bacca?
I found the transfer window hugely frustrating but keeping Payet was the marqee signing in my opinion. Last year we did well due to the team ethic. Barring a few toys out the pram (Sakho) everyone was pulling in the same direction. The window may not have been how we wanted it but the last thing we needed were some so called superstars coming in demanding this and that and rocking the boat. That is what has so impressed me about Antonio. He waited ages for his chance, never moaned and I was delighted he got called up. He is no right back but what a trier. More of those please and f**k Bacca and Lacazette off out of it. That is all.
